Introduction

A collection of handbooks for the PDP-11 minicomputer.

Title Publication Date Abstract
PDP-11 Architecture Handbook 1983 The purpose of this book is to explain the PDP-11 architecture. This book is aimed at two distinct groups of readers: first, those who need to know the technical details of PDP-11 architecture; second, those who may be new to computers or inexperienced with PDP-11s and need a tutorial introduction to the PDP-11 family and architecture.
MICRO/PDP-11 Handbook 1983 This handbook is your introduction to the MICRO/PDP-11. It offers descriptions of the MICRO/PDP-11 system and related products: peripherals, interfaces, operating systems, communications software, and languages. Answers to the most commonly asked technical questions, and direction to sources for additional information if you need it.
PDP11/40 Processor Handbook 1972 This Handbook describes the PDP-11/40, one of the latest computers in the PDP-11 family from Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC). The PDP-11/40 was designed to fit a broad range of applications, from small stand alone situations where the computer consists of only 8K of memory and a processor, to large multi-user, multi-task applications requiring up to 124K of addressable memory space. Among its major features are a fast central processor with a choice of floating point and sophisticated memory management, both of which are hardware options.
PDP-11 Processor Handbook (PDP11/04/24/34a/44/70) 1981 This handbook is uniquely divided into four separate processor chapters which discuss the individual and integral features pertinent to the operation of each CPU. It does not attempt to delve into the degree of technicality found in the user documentation delivered with the system.

A complete and current PDP-11 and microcomputer Instruction Set description accompanies this handbook. It is easily identified and immediately accessed by the implementation of a black page tab which runs vertically along the right-hand border of the handbook. Other useful handbook features include chapters on addressing modes, programming techniques, UNIBUS, floating pOint, and commercial instruction sets, which collectively highlight PDP-11 processor capabilities. An extensively updated chapter on memory management has also been included with this publication.

PDP11/20/15/r20 Processor Handbook 1971 This Handbook provides basic information about the PDP-11/20 general purpose 16-bit computer, the PDP-11/15 OEM computer, and the PDP-11/R20 rugged computer. Since these computers are functionally identical, all statements about the PDP-11/20 apply also to the PDP-11/15 and the PDP-11/R20. Part I describes the processor, its major components and how the PDP-11/20 is programmed. Part II is a summary of PDP-11 software; and Part III describes PDP-11 timesharing, communications, and data acquisition and control systems.
Novice Book: A User Manual for the PDP 11/70 Computer 1980 Corvallis Environmental Research Laboratory. A guide for novice lab users on operating and using their PDP-11/70 computer.
